Many cities lost their charm during the summer. However, Valencia offers a great cultural offer during the summer season. If you are so lucky that you are in the Turia city during these months, you cannot miss any of the following plans:
In July, a great festival in Valencia takes place with acts around the whole city. The program of this well-known event includes monologs, music, film festivals, and fireworks. Many of these acts take place during the sunset when high temperatures go down, and, in addition, they are usually free!
Apart from the cultural offer in Feria de Julio, some organisations and companies organise film and music festivals outdoors in summer. If you are into films, you will have the change to enjoy classic films in the most emblematic places of Valencia such as the terrace of Music Palace or the university cloister. On the other hand, if you are into music, several live concerts of different music styles take place in Valencia during the summer season. These musical events usually take place at Viveros gardens, bull ring or Marina.
With more than 15 kilometres-long, the beach of Valencia is one of the most emblematic places of the city for the whole year. However, in summer it is the meeting point of locals and tourists who look for a cool swim in the sea and enjoy the sun.
Despite the fact that the sea is one of the characteristics of Valencia, we cannot forget that there are many options to do tourism in the mountains, and only some kilometres away from the city. If you want to enjoy a day in the mountains and swim in the river, you will have the chance of enjoying a day of multi-activity in the river Cabriel, do kayak in river Turia or swimming in Anna’s lake.
Gastronomy is one of the advantages of travelling to Spain. Each area of the country has its typical dishes, but you cannot leave Valencia without having tried some dishes of Valencian gastronomy. Primarily after the twilight or at weekends, local people enjoy drinking cold drinks and delicious tapas on bar terraces. If you prefer sweet foods, you have to try horchata (tiger nut milk), which is the typical drink of Valencia, with fartones (typical Valencian cake).
Another plan which you can do during the summer season is enjoying a boat ride on one of the most touristic lakes of the city such as Cabecera’s park or the City of Arts and Science’s lake. Furthermore, just some minutes from Valencia, you can discover the Albufera, where you can enjoy a beautiful sunset from.
Would you like to enjoy these and many other exciting plans in the city of Valencia? If the answer is yes, come to meet us at Hispania, escuela de español where, apart from learning and improving your Spanish, we will offer you a huge variety of cultural activities.
